How much marble do you need?

Most marble tiles are sold by the square foot, so be sure to factor in the size of your space when making your purchase. You can order additional tiles later if needed.

If there is a row where all but one tile has been removed due to lippage, then you will need a single replacement tile in that row instead of an entirely new row. If this is the case and you don’t have any other missing pieces, then simply replace the bad tile with a good one and place it on top of its predecessor.

Materials

You’ll need a putty knife, chisel, hammer, and tile nippers for this project. Plus, you’ll need a wet saw if you’re working with large tiles. Preparation

Use a grout sealant remover to treat stains on the floor if there are any before you start sanding. While this is not necessary for removing lippage, it will help prolong the life of your marble flooring because sealants protect against staining and wear and tear over time.

Next, use a putty knife or chisel to carefully remove any excess materials that may be sticking up higher than the rest of the floor. Be careful not to remove too much of the marble in this step as this will take away some of its beauty!
